Maharashtra-A hammered Odisha-A by an innings and 172 runs on the third day of their four-day C K Nayudu Trophy (U-25) Elite Group B match at Malvan in Maharashtra today. This was the second successive humiliating defeat for the Odisha side, which earlier lost to Delhi A by an innings and 17 runs at Delhi.
Put into bat, the Odisha team rode on a half-century by opening batsman Girija Rout (65, 4x9) and a run-a-ball 48 (4x4, 4x6) by Bibhudutta Panda to compile modest first innings total of 214. In reply, a century each by
A Dandekar, G Gaikwad and P Bhati powered Maharashtra-A to pile up a mammoth total of 556. Needing 343 runs to escape innings defeat, the visitors folded up for 170 in the second innings. Odisha-A would next meet Jammu & Kashmir A at Jammu from November 9 to 12.
